falling for fall…

last week i sat outside, on the veranda, with my hubby after putting the kiddos to bed.  having endured the sweltering heat, just hours before, to watch my daughter play tennis, i was delightfully surprised to find how chilly it was.  i was thrilled to wrap up in my favorite restoration hardware cashmere blanket and sit out there for a while.  i would have eventually had visions of turtlenecks dancing thru my dreams, had my sweetie not awakened me.  in that weather, i could easily sleep outside.

this morning, my husband and i went out for walk that turned into a 3 mile jog.  there was a similar crispness to the air, that motivated us, beyond our initial plans of a casual walk. although, the trees are still green, that brisk chill tells me that fall is on the horizon and i love fall!

here’s what i love about it:

according to the farmer’s almanac, the autumnal equinox (or first day of fall) isn’t for 11 more days, and here in the south, we are at least a month away from pulling out our sweaters for daytime.  in the meantime, i’ll enjoy those fall-like moments of the early morning and the late evening, interrupted by the blazing heat of the mid-day sun.  hello, layers!
